Sugarfire 44 - Barbecue

The hottest restaurant in town is Sugarfire 44, and not just because the grill is always on. This is an award-winning St Louis-style barbecue at its finest. Sugarfire is too acclaimed to count all its awards, led by Chef Mike Johnson, who has studied with Myron Mixon, Emeril Lagasse, and Charlie Trotter and overseen the founding of six other restaurants.

Here, you'll find brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and even grilled salmon. The meat is always perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy in enormous portions, so there's plenty for everyone - or plenty to take home. You can also get big meaty sandwiches and thick burgers. For appetizers, you have got to try the smoked fried artichokes or the pork belly hush puppies.

The vibe is welcoming and casual with big trays to keep your messy meal contained, condiment bottles by the score, and choose-your-own indoor or outdoor tables. If you have room for more, dive into the entire board of desserts, from fresh pie slices to the chocolate peanut butter bourbon shake.

Duck In Market - Cajun Cuisine

Duck In Market is a convenience store and unique little local restaurant serving homestyle Cajun cuisine straight from the deltas of Louisiana. Craving gumbo or classic red beans with rice? Longing for the nostalgia of a Southern-style roast beef sandwich with debris gravy? Curious about what's in a Voodoo pasta salad? You can answer all these cravings or curiosities at the Duck In.

A family-owned restaurant, you dive into deep south nostalgia or discover just what Cajun food really is at this cozy little convenience store diner. Don't forget to ask about the specials. The New Orleans chef always has something new on the menu, alongside a daily house-made variety of muffins, cookies, tarts, and various sweet treats.

P'sghetti's Pasta & Sandwiches - Italian Casual

Every town needs a good Italian restaurant where you can enjoy comfort food in style. Here in Valley Park, that's P'sghetti's. Founded by Bill and Colleen Brannan in 1987, this playfully named Italian restaurant has been part of St Louis with the singular goal of creating a welcoming and affordable place for people to enjoy a good meal. Valley Park is their third location, which opened in 2019. Our local P'sghetti's is bright and airy with a welcoming lunch venue vibe.

P'sghetti's makes their sweet fresh-baked bread and family recipe red sauce from scratch every day. The restaurant is still family-owned, with all three locations putting down roots to become a neighborhood favorite.

Asian Corner - Chinese + Asian Fusion

Chinese food is another must-have restaurant staple. Having a Chinese food restaurant you can rely on for quiet lunches or delivered dinners can make the perfect day complete. For Valley Park, that local favorite mainstay is Asian Corner. One of the highest-rated restaurants in town, Asian Corner serves more than just Chinese food. The Asian fusion menu has all your favorites from the far side of the world, from house fried rice to miso soup to Pad Thai.

The food quality is absolutely reliable, has great flavor, and is well-prepared every time. Plus, their takeout game is superb, so your meal is always neatly packed whether you order takeout or delivery. If you stay for a meal in-house, you'll enjoy comfortable chairs and an airy, spacious dining room.

El Nopal - Mexican Cuisine

For great Mexican food, head over to El Nopal. Don't let the simple exterior fool you, the interior is lively and the food is delicious. Fresh and flavorful, every plate is made with huge portions, so you'll have enough to take home for seconds and thirds when you get hungry later on. We love the colorful plates and the gorgeous wall mural, but we keep coming back for reliably fantastic Mexican food.

Shack  - Brunch

Nothing beats an amazing place for Brunch. Shack is a local restaurant with locations spanning Kansas City and St Louis. We love to see a local brand go big, and they serve a really great breakfast.

Open 7 AM to 2 PM, Shack is the perfect place for a loaded breakfast platter, a stack of enormous pancakes, or fried chicken sandwiched between Belgian waffles. Whether you're craving something savory or sweet, you're sure to have a great time. When you arrive, don't just order. Browse the menu. Every item is written like a joke, and you're sure to have a laugh.
